When the Covid-19 pandemic was forcing brands to cancel all live events, we were able to get creative and create an award winning a device launch, for OnePlus, that US consumers could still get excited about.

We demonstrated the wide coverage of T-Mobile’s 5G network, and OnePlus’ advanced 5G technology, with the OnePlus Go Farther ‘phygital’ experience. Where, we created three physical pop-up stores and hid them in secret U.S. locations. Each location was was remote enough to, understandably, not have any phone service. However, in each location, we amazed the fans by showing how fast the 5G coverage really was.

We engaged the world renowned photographer, Reuben Wu, to photograph our surreal landscapes in his unique style. And, tasked fans to find them all. We put cash prizes, swag and devices on the line to incentivize our audience.

Through a cryptic social campaign, we leaked clues out to help fans triangulate the actual location of each of the remote pop-up stores. The community participated online, for the most part. But, a brave few participated in real life, trying to find the remote phone pop-ups by trekking into the wild U.S Landscape.

Each location was chosen for it’s unique landscape during a time of year where we were able to simultaneously exist in 3 completely different seasons.
